You are asked to create a web page with a series of links to
other web pages that you created. You will learn how to create the "homepage"
and links to internal and external pages.
The specifications for the web page are:
1. Select the software program to use to compose your website. See suggestions at the end
of this assignment.
2. Create your website, e.g., school, organization, church, family,
etc.
3. Be thinking of a plan of how your main page will connect to the
other pages.
4. Create between four and six links to other pages that you have
created.
5. Select between two and four external links (other websites) to sites that related to your
homepage.
6. Include in your website some animation and images.
7. Use a "file transfer protocal" (FTP application) to move your pages from your
computer to the server.
8. This assignment could be the most frustrating and the most fun. Keep sending
help messages until you get your page to work.
This assignment includes uploading your webpages to the "eburg"
server. This means using a FTP (PC)or FETCH (MAC) application to upload the
pages to a server. (MAC people, remember you need to upload image differently.)
9. Use the following information for FETCH and FTP: Host: ftp.eburg.com
User name: hmleague,
Passsword: HMl3agu3
Once on the server, select the "Public_html" folder
then,
Folder: "Heritage"
Then your folder: your folder is your first name in lower case.)
10. With your browser, e.g., Explorer or Netscape, test to ensure linkages
internal and external sites. An example of your URL would be:
http://www.hmleague.org/Heritage/jack/sample.htm
11. Send the URL, via email, to Dr. Mckay, mckay423@cablespeed.com
12. Suggested composers are: Claris Homepage, Dreamweaver, Front Page, and
Netscape Composer.
Please, along the way, keep me informed about how you are doing. This whole process of webpage building and uploading to the server can be very frustrating.
