1. Conceptual Framework

Heritage College approaches the preparation of educational leaders from a constructivist perspective. Courses utilize cooperative groups, simulations, technology, scenarios, case studies, and practice in safe classroom environments facilitated by practicing professionals in the field. Students are encouraged to use reflective behaviors, critical thinking, effective communications, and problem solving skills to learn and apply knowledge in a time of extraordinary change. Our approach is intended to prepare students for the kinds of situations and problems they will encounter in today's education positions. Focus on relevant research-based content facilitated by responsive adjunct faculty provides a formula for the preparation of highly effective practitioners. Comprehensive field experiences, based on high standards, provides a capstone of the professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for successful leadership in today's schools.
