Newsletter
The following information is helpful in designing your newsletters, brochures, annual reports, and web pages. For this assignment, presume you are the new principal and this is your opening of school newsletter.

1. The newsletter, done in MS Word or MS Works, should be at least four pages.

2. You should have a banner or title to your newsletter.

3. A table of contents or "what's inside" on the front page to guide the reader.

4. Leave room on the last one-half page for the return address and a place to put the mailing label.

5. Include at least two pictures and two examples of clip art.

6. Format your newsletter to include two or three columns.

7. Try and keep your news articles brief.

Most of the following information would be useful in a school newsletter or website:
1. School Address
2. Important phone numbers
3. School philosophy or mission statement
4. Important annual events, dates (holidays, staff development, etc.)
5. School district URL
6. Staff directory
7. Daily schedule
8. School clubs and organizations
9. Library
10. School activities, athletics, etc.
11. District budget (short version)
12. School building Curriculum Scope and Sequence
13. Standards and/or Learner Outcomes, Rubrics
14. Images of school, faculty, etc.
15. Emergency procedures
16. Relevant policies and rules
17. Unique or outstanding charteristics of your students, faculty, etc.
18. Building newsletters already published
19. Standardized test results per grade
20. External websites of interest
21. Accreditation (if appropriate)
22. Homework or academic assistance
23. Sources for assistance to parents (counseling, local agencies, etc.)
 

24. Guidelines for the school newsletter:

a. School newsletter banner for first page
b. Contents section - what is inside the newsletter
c. Minimum of four pages
d. Space for address and return address
e. Minimum of two images
f. Titles for each article or news item
g. Page numbers
