Topic: Add a Document to Your ePortfolio and Submit for Assessment

Note: If you are somewhat familiar with Chalk and Wire, you may be able to move more quickly through this process if you just follow the bold, italicized directions.

Step 1: Access and Log-in

Go to the Heritage Home page at www.heritage.edu.

Click on "Current Students"

Click on the "ePortfolio2" icon in the lower right corner.

You are now on the log-in page. Bookmark this page for easy access in future.

Enter your Chalk and Wire username.

Enter your Chalk and Wire password (case sensitive).

Press "Enter" or click on "OK".

Step 2: Entering Chalk and Wire

You may find yourself on one of two pages.

If you are on the page that offers you an opportunity to add your student number and a security question, just go to the bottom of the page and click "OK".

If you are on the page that is entitled "Services", go to the bottom left corner and click on the "ePortfolio2" logo.

Now you should be on the "My Portfolios" page.

Step 3: Opening Your ePortfolio & Navigating to Appropriate Section and Page

On the "My Portfolios" page, you should see one or more ePortfolios listed.

Locate the appropriate ePortfolio title and follow across the line to the icons at right.

Click on the pencil (edit) icon.

Your ePortfolio will open.

Locate the appropriate course number in the navigation list on the left or right of the page (depending on which theme you are using).

Click on the appropriate course number.

You are now in the appropriate course section of your ePortfolio (e.g., Ed 315).

On this first page of the course section, you will see key assignments listed across the top of the page in blue.

Click on the blue link for the type of key assignment you wish to upload (e.g., Instructional Plan).

You are now on the appropriate key assignment page for your selected course.

Step 4: Add Your Document to this Page

Scroll to the very bottom of the page and locate the "Add Content" link.

Click on the "Add Content" link.

Scroll down to the section that is labeled "Artifact".

Click on "Browse".

Locate the drive where you have saved your work (e.g., Drive C or your thumb drive).

Locate your file for the assignment you want to upload.

Check to be sure you saved the file in Word 2003 or RTF format.

Double click on the appropriate file name.

The file name will now appear in the window beside the "Browse" button.

Click on the "Upload" button.

Allow a moment for your computer to upload the file.

Scroll down the page to the "Artifact" section again.

You will now see your selected file listed and checked.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "OK".

This will bring you back to your original ePortfolio key assignment page.

Scroll down the page until you can verify that your document appears as a link.

Step 5: Submit for Assessment

Scroll to the very bottom of the page and locate the "Submit Assessment" link.

Click on the "Submit Assessment" link.

You will be warned that you are about to submit the page for assessment.

Click on "OK".

You will now see either a set of survey questions Heritage would like for you to respond to or you will see a list of instructor names.

If you see the survey, please respond to all questions and click "OK" at the bottom of the page.

When you see the list of instructors' names, click in the box before your instructor's name.

Click "OK" at the bottom left hand corner of the page.

You will now be returned to your ePortfolio page.

Check the top of the page for the confirmation message telling you that your assignment has successfully been submitted to instructor X.

Log out.
