ADJUNCT NEWS FLASH

News and Information for Graduate Faculty

Summer Semester, 2007

IMPORTANT FACULTY REQUIREMENTS

1.       A revised Faculty Resource Manual for the College of Education and Psychology is available online at http://www.hmleague.org/Heritage/adjunctmenu.htm. The Manual contains expectations, resources, and information (e.g., syllabus requirements, “Survival Guides,” APA Guidelines) useful to all faculty.

2.       All graduate class lists are available through the “coursemates” link on your VCampus course site.  Please contact Becca Martin, Janet Lang, Imelda Balderas, or one of the Regional Administrative Assistants.  (Directions given below.)

3.       Please email your syllabus to Imelda Balderas (balderas_m@heritage.edu) a minimum of four (4) weeks before class begins.   A syllabus is required for contract payment.

4.       Please post your syllabus on VCampus a minimum of three (3) weeks before class begins. (Directions given below.)

5.       Check the textbook list on www.heritage.edu for accuracy.  For corrections, contact Becca Martin (martin_b@heritage.edu or 509-865-8599).

6.       All faculty are expected to know and understand how to: 1) log on to VCampus, 2) update the “My Info” section, 3) upload course syllabi, 4) access class roster information, and 5) access the special communication group(s) information for teaching resources.  (Directions given below.)

7.       Contact Dianne Fernandez in financial aid (fernandez_d@heritage.edu or 509 865-8502) with the name(s) of registered students who do not attend class. Please provide your name, course and the names of registered student(s) who did not attend class.

8.       Grade rosters will be sent when the class is completed.  Send grades on or before August 5 to the Registrar’s Office.  This will ensure timely posting of grades to transcripts.

Thank you for meeting these important deadlines and expectations!

USING VCAMPUS

Our Course Management System, vcampus.heritage.edu,  allows faculty to post and receive information via a course web site.   A password and login are required to access specific course information.  Please contact your regional office staff for assistance with the VCampus system.

To view and print “real time” class rosters, follow these directions:

·          Log in to VCampus and click on “Faculty” in the upper right-hand corner (under the mountain picture).

·          Choose “All My Courses.”

·          If the course you want is for the coming semester, click on “Future” then click your course.

·          Choose “Gradebook” from the navigation bar on the left. You can print this page or export it to Excel.

·          To export to Excel, click on “Export to Excel” in the upper right corner. Excel will open with your class list.

To post your syllabus under “Syllabus” on VCampus, follow these directions:

1.       Add your syllabus to your “handout bank.”

2.       Right-click on your syllabus (as saved in your bank).   Choose “Copy Shortcut” from the drop-down menu.

3.       Click on “Syllabus” on the Navigation bar on the left-hand side of your screen. Then click “Edit” in the upper right-hand side.

4.       Click on the button with the globe and the chain-link (when you hover the mouse over it, a little box will show up that says “Insert Hyperlink.”  (It’s the third button from the right.)

5.       A box will pop up prompting you to type the text you want to show for the link. You should type something such as, “Click here for your syllabus for ED511.0,” and then click OK.

6.       The next box is the URL link box. The box you type in will automatically be highlighted. Press “Ctrl V” to paste the copied shortcut. Click OK. (The box will disappear and your code will be posted in the HTML box on your page.)

7.       Scroll to the bottom of the page. Click “Save.”

  1. Your syllabus is now posted as a link.
